I firmly believed that after a suitable period of recuperation, Deborah, being Deborah, would be back with us, her public health family, this year, leading from the front in her usual calm, focused and pragmatic way. I was truly shocked when I heard the news of her passing. My heart goes out to her family, friends and colleagues. It's a much-needed reminder that life is to to be cherished.
