I was so saddened to hear the news about Deborah. Although I never worked closely with her, she struck me as such a lovely warm and kind person. She always seemed to take everything in her stride, and I was awed by her ability to bring a sense of calm among chaos, to bring practical common sense to any situation, and to almost intuitively be able to separate the 'important' from the 'unimportant'. There were a couple of times early in the COVID pandemic when I was working as a relatively new consultant over very challenging weekends, and she gave me a quick ring 'just to check in' - this was so deeply appreciated and made me feel so valued, not to mention calmer! To do that for a junior colleague in a different region, and someone she didn't even know especially well at that, just shows what a wonderful, caring colleague she was - and how much she will be missed.
